Description:

The Dentist examine, diagnose, and treat diseases, injuries, and malformations of teeth and gums. May treat diseases of nerve, pulp, and other dental tissues affecting oral hygiene and retention of teeth. May fit dental appliances or provide preventive care.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
To relieve dental pain and infection.
To provide basic dental services.
To maintain quality dental care equal to or greater than the private sector.
Motivate the employees of the dental clinic, especially those involved in direct dental service delivery.
To provide the dental procedures of prevention and restorative to include:
Exam & x-rays
Prophylaxis
Sealants
Scale and rootplane
Extractions
Alveoloplasty
Minor surgery
Biopsies
Dentures
Denture repairs and relines
Fillings (composite and amalgam)
Stayplates
Stayplate and partial denture repairs and relines
Cast crowns
Stainless crowns
Fixed bridges (as center allows)
Partial dentures (as center allows)
Root canal therapy (as center allows)

Provide direct oversight to the Dental School Externs in the clinic and complete assessments as required.
Provide direct oversight to the AEGD residents in the clinic and complete evaluations as required.
Provide patient care on the HOPE van as requested.
Provide direct oversight to the Shasta College Dental Hygiene program clinic as requested.
Other duties or projects as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of current dental principles.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Graduate from an accredited American Dental School.
DDS or DMD degree.
PREFERRED Qualifications
Two years’ experience as a dentist
Dental community clinic setting experience.
