This program examines the deadly synergistic exacerbation between cardiovascular disease (CVD)\, which is the leading cause of death and disability for men and women in North America\, and\, the contributing role oral disease plays in patients with CVD. The conditions of metabolic syndrome\, insulin resistance\, and their devastating cardiovascular effects that lead to the tragic outcomes of heart attack and stroke will be discussed. Learning Objectives: \n\nReview current understanding of the histology of inflammation\nDiscuss the general physiology and cellular responses of a normal and abnormal inflammatory response\nContrast the differences between acute and chronic inflammation\, and their associated manifestations and complications\nTo be able to provide a broader health education to your dental patient’s with confidence and motivation.\nIncrease treatment plan acceptance by joining your patient’s current and past medical health history with their oral and periodontal disease.\n\n“Red\, White and Blue\, what does it mean to YOU? Practical Oral Pathology for the Dental Team” \nOral lesions are a common finding in the dental practice. During this course attendees will receive not only a refresher program on the topic of oral pathology\, but will also be brought up to date with the most current\, relevant discussions of widespread oral pathologies including their origins\, treatments and outcomes. The audience will learn valuable insights and techniques that can be immediately introduced into their clinical practice to improve patient care. Learning Objectives: \n\nFundamental overview of the histology and pathogenesis of common and frequently encountered oral lesions\, pathologies and the oral manifestations of systemic disease encountered in dental practice\nRecognition and differentiation of Red\, White and Pigmented oral lesions\nRecognition of tissue alteration due to physical trauma or habit\, localized disease and systemic illness\nLearn and implement a succinct yet thorough extra/intra oral examination process in to routine dental practice

DESCRIPTION:Registration Closed \nTreating Caries Chemically: Minimally Invasive\, Maximally Effective \nDouglas A. Young\, DDS\, EdD\, MBA\, MS \nDr. Young is a Professor Emeritus at the University of the Pacific where he is an active and ardent educator in the field of minimally invasive dentistry and cariology. He most recently worked for the Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium as a specialist in oral health promotion.  He is currently the Director of Minimally Invasive Dentistry at Sea Mar Community Health Centers. He was one of the founders of the CAMBRA (Caries Management by Risk Assessment) Coalition\, American Dental Education Association (ADEA) Cariology Section\, and the American Academy of Cariology (AAC). \nDr. Young has served on the ADA Council of Scientific Affairs and is currently a cariology consultant for the ADA. He has presented at congresses and universities around the world and published in numerous peer-reviewed dental journals and textbooks on caries management using minimal invasive dentistry\, silver fluoride\, and glass ionomer restoratives. \nCourse Description: \nClinical practice today uses scientifically sound evidence-based approaches.  There is a noticeable shift to the caries treatment paradigm by better preventing and managing caries as a disease. \nThis presentation will present a scientific overview of caries risk management at the patient level and minimally invasive dentistry (MID) at the tooth level utilizing new tools such as the ADA Caries Classification System\, selective caries removal\, and chemical approaches such as silver diamine fluoride (SDF)\, and glass ionomer cement (GIC). Actual clinical cases will be used to illustrate these concepts. \nThe presentation provides an excellent update relevant to clinical applications for the dentist\, dental therapist\, hygienist\, assistant\, and front office. \n  \nEducational Objectives: \nYou Will Learn: \n\nCaries Risk Management (CRM) treats chemically at the patient level\nSDF and Glass Ionomers treats chemically at the tooth level\nSelective caries removal is minimally invasive\n\n \n

SUMMARY:Oral Systemic Health - Two 3 hour Zoom Webinars
DESCRIPTION:John Kempton DDS\, FACD\, FAAOSH \nDownload Registration Form or register and pay online below. \nRegistration Form Oral Systemic Health – Zoom Webinar (Two 3 hour webinars) (6 CE)  John Kempton DDS\, FACD\, FAAOSH \nThe evidence connecting periodontal pathogens to chronic disease is firmly established. Yet most dental teams have not implemented the clinical practices which mitigate both the local and systemic distribution of high-risk pathogens. We must consider the pathogens that have left the mouth and are creating breakdown at other systemic locations when our patients walk in the door. \nIn this groundbreaking and potentially life-saving course\, John Kempton DDS will present a specific set of protocols for diagnosing and treating periodontitis with the goal of minimizing the health impact of high-risk pathogens on both the oral biome and translocated micro-biomes. The subject is brought to life by real-life stories\, case histories\, and current research to crystalize the need to change clinical delivery of care. \n\nCreate a desire to participate in the oral systemic movement\nRediscover the definition of periodontal disease\nReview current research connecting gram negative pathogens to chronic disease\nCome to terms with new evidence relating to a standard of care for diagnosing and treating periodontitis\nConnect periodontal pathogens to chronic disease in your patient population\nIdentify high-risk patients with a new perspective on medical history\nBe able to create a treatment protocol and implement specific procedures to mitigate periodontal microbes\nLearn how to authentically dialogue the oral systemic message to your patients
